KATHERINE HOSPITAL INSTALL OF MEDICAL GAS
The installation of the medical gas system for the Jack Roney Ward extension at Katherine District Hospital was a small project completed by Airducter in 2014.
Airducter supplied and installed new medical gas outlets and pipework, altered the existing medical gas to suit, and carried out testing on the completed system to AS2896-2011.
Coordinating site personnel and equipment was paramount on this project as the works were located in a regional town which is a 3.5 hour drive from Darwin. Airducter ensured wall plates were delivered to site pre-punched ready for installation over medical gas outlets. Coordination was paramount between electrical services and Airducter to ensure correct numbers and arrangement (i.e. additional hole required for scavenge outlets).
This project required a high level of direct stakeholder engagement with the client, Katherine District Hospital and Airducter personnel and subcontractors, to achieve as minimal disruption as possible to staff and patients. Airducter had to ensure that the medical gas system wasn’t switched off outside of planned works and accurate testing and certification of the completed system was performed.
Since the hospital remained operational during the installation, strict safety measures were put in place as well as ensuring all Airducter personnel held valid OCHRE cards.
