RAAF DARWIN BULK FUEL STORAGE
Airducter was engaged to deliver the mechanical services package for the RAAF Darwin Bulk Fuel Storage Tanks project, a major Defence infrastructure development supporting United States Air Force (USAF) operations in Northern Australia.
Delivered as part of a large-scale fuel storage and distribution facility, the project included the construction of two 50,000-barrel bulk fuel storage tanks, pump houses, fuel filtration facilities, petroleum operations buildings, associated fuel transfer infrastructure, and supporting services. The development was designed to enhance fuel storage capacity, operational resilience, and mission readiness at RAAF Base Darwin.
Airducter's scope involved the supply, installation, testing, balancing, and commissioning of mechanical services across multiple critical facilities, including the Petroleum Operations (POL) Building, Filter Building, Pump Vaults, Liquid Dry Breathing Oxygen (LDBO) Building, Substation G, and underground tunnel infrastructure.
Mechanical services works included:
Air supply and distribution systems
Mechanical ventilation and exhaust systems
Unitary air conditioning equipment
Thermal insulation of mechanical services
Testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB)
Associated mechanical plant, equipment, and controls
The project required the delivery of reliable HVAC and ventilation systems within a highly regulated Defence environment, supporting both operational facilities and hazardous-area infrastructure associated with bulk fuel storage and handling.
Through close collaboration with the project team and adherence to stringent Defence standards, Airducter successfully delivered the mechanical services package, contributing to the completion of a critical piece of strategic fuel infrastructure for Australia's northern defence network.
