RDH LAUNDRY RAIL HOIST SYSTEM
Airducter was engaged to deliver the design, construct and installation of a new laundry rail hoist system at Royal Darwin Hospital, located within the hospital’s Laundry Department.
The project involved upgrading the existing linen handling system to a fully automated primary bag storage and sorting solution, improving efficiency and reliability of laundry operations across the facility.
Works included:
Design and installation of a new automated rail hoist system
Ground floor loading station with electronic weighing and incline unit
First floor storage system with multiple lines and high-capacity trolley operation
Integrated sorting platform and discharge system
Automatic empty bag removal and return rail system
Installation of stainless steel monorail and supporting structure
Implementation of tracking and control system linked to downstream equipment
Additional scope included the removal of redundant rail infrastructure and provision of operator training, manuals, and a 12-month maintenance period following completion.
All works were completed within a live hospital environment, with careful coordination to ensure minimal disruption to operations and full compliance with site safety and infection control requirements.
This project reinforces Airducter’s capability to deliver complex mechanical solutions within critical healthcare environments, combining design expertise with practical installation experience to improve long-term operational performance.
