US AIR FORCE SQUADRON FACILITIES RAAF DARWIN
Airducter was awarded the mechanical services contract for the United States Air Force Squadron Operations Facility, constructed at Royal Australian Air Force Base Darwin.
The facility was designed to support strategic operations and multiple 15-day training operations for USAF B-52 bombers deployed through the Northern Territory. Airducter’s scope included the installation of air conditioning and ventilation systems to service the operational, technical, communications and support spaces within the building.
Mechanical services installed included a concealed ducted reverse cycle air handling unit serving the main building areas, with conditioned air distributed through ductwork, Variable Air Volume terminals and ceiling registers. Each zone was fitted with dedicated controls to allow modulating airflow and temperature management throughout the facility.
A Dedicated Outdoor Air System was also installed to provide outside air to the main air handling system, supported by filtration, dampers and VSD-controlled airflow. Additional wall-mounted reverse cycle fan coil units were installed to service the mechanical room, electrical room and TEF/communications room, each connected to external condensing units.
Airducter also delivered the ventilation systems for the facility, including ducted toilet exhaust and breakout room exhaust systems, complete with ceiling-mounted grilles, rigid and flexible ductwork, weatherproof discharge louvres and make-up air provisions.
This project demonstrates Airducter’s capability in delivering mechanical services for secure, high-performance defence infrastructure, supporting critical operational facilities in the Northern Territory.
